Match report
On a grey afternoon in the southern suburbs, CJ Villa Soldati and AA Villa del Parque Reserva met on the pitch with neither side showing the courage or the clarity to break a deadlock that ended up being decisive. The goalless draw on matchday 10 of Primera L of GBA Sur left both at a crossroads: the hosts unable to make home advantage count, the visitors content to take a point that, deep down, pleases hardly anyone.
Two identical line-ups, two balanced mindsets, and the result that such a tactical marriage so often brings: a match where nobody took too many risks, where the spaces were contested with the dryness of those who know a mistake can be costly. Olivier Ortiz in the home defence had to settle for snuffing out isolated moves, and Tomás Strozzi in the visitors’ goal was scarcely tested. Gael Bonifazi down the left for Villa Soldati looked to create danger from full-back, while Yoel Vannini on the right tried his luck with that gift he has for being unpredictable on the flank. None of it was enough to open up a defence that remained airtight. Claudio Zanardi, with his thirty-four years of experience forged on pitches in the south, did not allow any alarms at the back.
Villa Soldati left the pitch frustrated at failing to make home advantage count. AA Villa del Parque Reserva, by contrast, takes away a result that could be considered valuable in league terms, though it knows that this sort of draw, when you play away from home without any clear ambition, rarely leads to happy destinations. A nil-nil that, in the arithmetic of lower-division football, is little more than a pause along the way.
