Match report
C. and Barrio Retiro left no room for doubt on matchday 8 of Primera L - GBA Oeste. With a convincing 3-0 over El Vencedor de Montserrat, the home side showed tactical clarity that the visitors could not nullify. Both squads came in with similar line-ups, a balanced 4-4-2, but Retiro managed to impose its tempo from the outset. The difference was not so much in the system as in the execution: the hosts had strength in midfield and depth in attack that Montserrat simply could not counter.
The performance of Galo Hidalgo (7.7) on the right was decisive. The 29-year-old winger, who grew up in Patagonia with the toughness of someone who does not complain without reason, found space time and again. Jeremías Bruschi (7.6) supported well down his flank, while Diego Verde (7.6) in goal had little to do but was assured in the chances he had to deal with. At the back, Tomás Mancini (7.3) managed the game well without any alarms. Kiki Wieczorek (7.2) got one of the goals and did his job as the attacking reference. Montserrat, with Ethan Caetani (6.7) and Saúl Barrera (6.7) in defence, did not find any solidity at the back. Joaco Bastianelli (6.7) tried on the right but was not very fluent. The visitors never created any real danger in the opposition goal, which says plenty about the superiority Retiro imposed from first to last.
The emphatic win strengthens the home side's place in the table. Montserrat, by contrast, is left with unanswered questions over its defensive ability. When a team concedes three away from home without being able to trouble the opposition, there is little to take away from it.
