C. y Barrio Retiro gritted their teeth on home soil and edged out a narrow victory against Reservas Floresta on matchday three of Primera L - GBA Oeste. The 1-0 was a fair result in a match where both teams came out with the same idea: keep the balance, stay tight at the back, look for chances in transitions. The difference was made by Joel Arichabaleta, who scored on the left side of midfield with a goal that allowed the hosts to breathe in the closing stages.
The home side were never overwhelming, but they never needed to be. Diego Verde in goal hardly had any real work to do; the home defence, with Jeremías Bruschi filling in at right-back despite picking up a yellow card, dealt well with the raids of Pocho Arbide from the visitors' left. Galo Hidalgo on the right and Kiki Wieczorek up front were more effective in their movement than their opponents. Reservas Floresta never found any pace. Enrique Puebla and Federico Aramberri, both wingers aged 29, failed to generate any real attacking depth. Arbide, already 37, lacked the freshness to make a difference.
What defines this result is age and experience. The hosts have people in their squad at the peak of their physical condition — Verde, Bruschi, Arichabaleta, all around 27 to 29 years old — while the visitors rely on veterans who run out of steam quickly or players who have yet to find their rhythm. Reservas Floresta had their chances but wasted them; C. y Barrio Retiro were colder in the finish. In a Primera L in GBA Oeste where points matter, that was enough.
