Atlético Saavedra FC2 - 1CR Recoleta

Atlético Saavedra FC took a last-gasp victory against CR Recoleta on the opening matchday of Primera H de GBA Oeste, with a 2-1 that reflected more suffering than dominance. The home side managed the tempo of the match with a balanced 4-4-2 formation that allowed them to control the rhythm, but Recoleta did not resign themselves and put up a fight right to the end with the same tactical setup. It was one of those matches where the result could have been different with another dose of efficiency at the key moments.

The home side went ahead and got to 2-0, which seemed to have settled the tie. However, CR Recoleta took advantage of a more intense second half to pull one back and pile on the pressure, sowing doubts in the Saavedra defence when composure was most needed. The visitors had clear chances to equalise and even win it, but the home side knew how to do just enough in the final stages. It was a tight victory in which Atlético Saavedra FC showed character to hold on to their lead, though with too much nervousness in defence during the closing minutes.

The result gives a good start to the tournament for the home side, who picked up three points at home on a matchday 1 that is always tricky. For Recoleta, there is frustration at having competed as equals but without being able to make it count. The next fixtures will show whether this debut was any indication of the level both teams can sustain in the division. For now, Atlético Saavedra FC take the first honours of the tournament, though with the obligation to sharpen up defensively if they want to genuinely compete.
