Match report
Aurora de Villa Devoto and Patriotas Almagro shared the points in an uneventful encounter at Villa Devoto’s pitch, where the goalless draw was a faithful reflection of two teams that opted for balance from the outset. With identical 4-4-2 formations and evenly matched mentalities, the match unfolded on an even footing, with neither side daring to take too many risks. The result, fair in its coldness, left both with the bitter feeling of having failed to capitalise on the opportunities that did arise on the pitch.
Noé Bordón, Aurora’s young goalkeeper born in Comodoro Rivadavia, had little to do on an afternoon when his defence remained alert. At just 24, Bordón showed confidence in his area without needing to make any spectacular saves. At the other end, Raúl Tamargo, the 17-year-old visiting goalkeeper who also hails from Comodoro Rivadavia, was likewise not tested beyond the ordinary. In defence, Coco Anasagasti performed his role as a centre-back competently, while Vidal Arena, the 17-year-old right-back who inherited his brother’s boots, moved quietly down his flank. The match was defined more by what did not happen than by what did: few spaces given away, few clear chances and plenty of aimless possession.
Aurora could not break through the well-organised visiting defence, while Patriotas Almagro failed to find the attacking patterns needed to punish the hosts. On matchday 17 of Primera I GBA Oeste, the goalless draw will remain as another pause in the league table: a point salvaged for those who need it, a wasted opportunity for those dreaming of more. Neither victory nor defeat, merely the resignation of two squads content not to lose.
