Def. Garín Oeste2 - 1La Verdad de Pacheco

Defensa de Garín Oeste earned a deserved win against La Verdad de Pacheco on the opening matchday of Primera F GBA Norte, in a match where both sides used similar systems but with very different results. The final 2-1 sumps up a tight contest, the sort where the details make all the difference. The home side had the cutting edge at the key moments, while the visitors went home empty-handed despite competing on level terms for much of the game.

Calleo Gil was the undisputed star of the afternoon, netting both goals that took Defensa de Garín Oeste to victory. The thirty-three-year-old striker showed why he remains a benchmark in the team, with that goalscorer's instinct that does not fade with the years. Santi Renzi pulled one back for La Verdad de Pacheco with a goal that arrived when the match could still have gone another way, but it was too late for the visitors to look for anything more than a draw. At the back, Néstor Robles put in a solid display for the home side, reading the game well from central defence. Elías Casas, the sixteen-year-old young goalkeeper, did his job without any major trouble.

Tactically, both teams' 4-4-2 with a balanced mindset produced an even match where neither side looked to take too many risks. Sebastián Lera on the left wing for Defensa de Garín Oeste was more effective than his counterparts at La Verdad de Pacheco, making the most of the spaces that opened up. Midfielder Antonio Calabretta, just eighteen, performed an organising role in the middle. The difference was efficiency: Garín Oeste took its chances while Pacheco squandered theirs. A fair win, with no more drama than an opening fixture required, where nobody wanted to drop points at home.
