Defensores de Retiro Centro prevailed at home against Estrella Agronomía with a 3-2 scoreline that summed up all the intensity of the second matchday of Primera L in GBA Norte. It was a thrilling, goal-filled match in which both teams started with a balanced mindset, but the home side made better use of the space. The visitors never stopped fighting and nearly secured an equaliser that would have been generous, but the Retiro Centro side executed better when the opportunities arose. Zacarías Velez, the 22-year-old right-back from Comodivadavia, was the main tormentor with two goals that put the match in the home side's favour at key moments. Bautista Arcuri, the 19-year-old youngster from Tandil who plays at centre-back, completed the scoring with his goal from a penalty-area move that showed Retiro Centro have the resources to create danger from deeper positions.
Estrella Agronomía managed to take a 2-1 lead with goals from Diogo Pedraza and Alfredo Iturbe, both 28-year-old footballers who had their moments in the match. Iturbe was shown a yellow card that leaves him walking a disciplinary tightrope for what lies ahead, while Pedraza played several important passes in the build-up. Polaco Tabares provided an assist from the visiting defence, showing that the 21-year-old centre-back from Bahía Blanca reads the game well. Bastian Lima also contributed an assist from midfield, but it was not enough to halt the home side's momentum.
Juan Mazza in goal for Retiro Centro earned a 7.5 rating and shone at several key moments, while Damián Vitale, the 36-year-old midfielder from Mendoza, contributed his experience in controlling the game. The experiment with Santi Olivares, the 16-year-old youngster who has barely seen any minutes, showed that the home side trust their academy. For Estrella Agronomía, the lingering regret is having been in the match but being unable to take anything away from a ground that proved difficult.
