Independiente del Sueldo
2 - 2
CLUB ATHLETICO ALEM
Match report
Independiente del Sueldo and Borussia Mortimer shared the points in a match where both sides had spells to take the victory, but neither managed to hold on to the lead. With a balanced 4-4-2 set-up, the home side set out to impose the tempo from the outset, while the visitors arrived in CABA with similar intentions. The 2-2 result reflects a close encounter, with no clear dominator, where the goals were the standout feature of an afternoon that offered little in the way of tactical brilliance but did have its share of emotion.
Vidal Bahamonde was the undisputed star for the home side. The 37-year-old striker, that veteran carrying the scars of old battles in Argentine football, scored twice and showed that his 8.4 rating is no accident. Bahamonde moved intelligently in the box, taking advantage of the space his team-mates created down the right flank with Bastian Altzaga. For the visitors, Nilo Yedlin and León Zilio shared the goals between them: the Bahía Blanca midfielder scored one, while the 31-year-old AM, that man brought up among mechanical workshops, finished his chance with assurance. Tadeo Simionato, with his 38 years of oilfield experience, provided the assist that kept Borussia’s hopes alive.
The defence of both sides shared responsibility. Tadeo Najib in the home centre and Aníbal Turetta in the visitors’ back line did what they could, but on a pitch where neither side managed any tactical clarity, space was plentiful. Xavier Beitia, Independiente del Sueldo’s young goalkeeper, and his opposite number for the visitors were kept busy retrieving the ball from the back of the net. In the end, the draw was a fair result: two teams that pushed themselves to the limit on an afternoon when nobody could claim the glory.
