Match report

Provincia Almagro wrapped up the match against Sportivo Floresta Sur with an efficiency that leaves little room for debate: two goals, no reply, a win that brings order to the upper reaches of Primera I - GBA Norte. The home side controlled the tempo without needing to produce eye-catching football. Two identical line-ups, two balanced approaches, but vast differences in execution. Almagro knew how to turn its chances into goals. Floresta Sur, for all it tried, never found the gap to slip through.

Adrián León opened the scoring with his goal from defence, in one of those moves that mark out centre-backs with judgement. The twenty-year-old youngster, who arrived years ago through an almost chance trial, showed once again that he has more to his game than first meets the eye. Then came Martín Arias, a twenty-five-year-old winger who has been doing solid work on the right flank, and he sealed the 2-0. Mati Pellegrini had a hand in that assist from the left. Up front, Tobías Liebman ran the midfield with the solidity that defines the thirty-year-old midfielder: few flashes of brilliance, but that consistency which allows the team to breathe. Pocho Becker, his counterpart at left-back, did his job quietly.

At the other end, Jorge Jalil in the Floresta Sur goal could do little beyond recording the goals in his ledger. Raúl Drago, the eighteen-year-old Paraguayan midfielder, kept moving constantly but without any real connection with what was happening up front. Agustín Zanforlin, a thirty-one-year-old striker who knows what it is to battle in Primera, was left without ammunition. For the visitors, the task is to review what went wrong in the attacking chain, because defensively it was no better. Almagro go away with three points that strengthen their position. Floresta Sur, time to chew on that.
