Match report
El Porvenir snatched a last-gasp win over Ferro in a match where both teams set out to do the same thing: control without risk. Antonio Couto’s goal, the Bahía Blanca centre-back who knew how to position himself well in the box, was the difference on an afternoon where clear chances were a luxury only sparsely shared. It was not a match to remember, but it was one of those where you win because you understand better where to place your feet.
Dylan Talamonti dictated the tempo from the home midfield with a patience that is not common in this division: the 27-year-old midfielder, with a rating of 7.6, was the one who set the rhythm when Ferro tried to play out from the back. On the left, Kiki Marichal (7.5) had his moments to unsettle things, while the full-back pairing —Ignacio Vassallo on the right and Damian Mazur on the left— kept the defensive shape intact. For the visitors, Beto Garay, just an 18-year-old youngster, did not have an easy afternoon marking for Ferro, and Levi Arroyo, the 26-year-old Brazilian full-back, did not find any clear space to push forward. Matías Quiroga, the 29-year-old striker with a rating of 6.1, was disconnected for most of the contest.
El Porvenir collect three points that bring them closer to the goals of Primera I GBA Norte, though without fully convincing. Ferro leave San Telmo with the feeling they could have taken something, but the defensive details did them in. One of those matches where both could have won, but only one had the sharpness to finish when it mattered.
