Central de Saavedra El Barrio2 - 2Villa del Parque

Central de Saavedra El Barrio and CJ Villa del Parque shared the points in a match where both had reasons to celebrate and to rue. The final 2-2 sums up what it was: an even contest, with no clear dominant side, where the goals came more from lapses in concentration than from any crafted football. In the first half, neither of the two balanced set-ups managed to impose themselves, although Central had chances to take the lead that they failed to make use of.

The turning point came down the flanks. Lolo Riccardi, the home right-back, opened the scoring with a goal that proved crucial for Central to press on with more confidence. Nene Areta, just a 17-year-old youngster, showed that Central have a strong young academy, scoring with a move in which he showed a composure uncommon at that age. But Villa del Parque did not buckle. Sasha Amezaga, a 34-year-old veteran with plenty of experience, scored for the visitors and levelled the score. The response from the Saavedra side came quickly, with Maxi Gaitán providing an assist that kept his team ahead. However, visiting centre-back Sergio Huber did not give in, and in the final minutes the Villa del Parque side found the equaliser that allowed them to leave the match with something positive.

The balance was genuine: two 4-4-2 formations, two evenly matched mentalities, two teams that never backed down. Central de Saavedra dropped points at home, which hurts when getting off to a winning start is decisive. Villa del Parque salvaged a valuable away draw, although their football was not enough to leave them satisfied. Maxi Gaitán was the standout on the pitch, but it was not enough to tip the scales. First matchday with a bittersweet feeling for both.
