Argentinos de Recoleta1 - 0La Verdad de Coghlan

Argentinos de Recoleta claimed a deserved victory on the opening matchday of Primera I de CABA, beating La Verdad de Coghlan 1-0 in a match where both sides sought control without exposing themselves too much. The goal came from the boots of Agustín Riquelme, a centre-back who took advantage of a game situation to break the deadlock. It was not a spectacular match, but nor was it lacking in intensity: two squads who read each other well, respected the spaces and understood that on matchday 1, points matter more than the desire to dazzle.

With parallel 4-4-2 formations and balanced mindsets, the match was decided by the details. Maxi Volpi was solid at right-back for Argentinos, holding that area with the consistency of a man who knows his trade; Oscar Bandini, now 37, still has the tools to shut things down on the left, although he had to stay alert to La Verdad's attempts. In midfield, Néstor Massa did his job pragmatically, even picking up a yellow card that serves as a warning about the need to temper his game. La Verdad de Coghlan were no minor opponent: Elías Zumpano in defence, at 33, remains a reference point, but the difference lay in those details that are paid for in Primera. Gianni Vidale, the Colombian midfielder aged 22, tried to make an impact but his reading of the game was not enough to turn the result around.

For Argentinos, this opening win brings relief and confidence. For La Verdad de Coghlan, there is the feeling of a match that was there to be taken, and that could have been resolved differently if their finishing had gone their way. The next trip will be to see whether they can sustain this or whether the goal begins to crack. For now, Recoleta adds and moves on.
