Liga Balvanera2 - 0Vet. Núñez

Liga Balvanera gave Veterinaria Núñez no chances on matchday one of Primera I de CABA. A 2-0 win without argument, without drama, without suspense. The hosts played with the calm of those who know they have more resources, while the visitors barely managed to trouble Tincho Barrios in goal. The Patagonian goalkeeper, nineteen years old, heir to a line of broken gloves, had little work but when he had to be alert, he was. Two line-ups identical on paper, but football is not played in the line-ups: it is played in conviction, and Liga Balvanera had that from the first minute.

The difference was clear in midfield. Hector Sayago, that twenty-two-year-old holding midfielder who arrived via a casual trial between neighbourhoods, controlled the tempo with a security that contrasted with the visitors' imprecision. Hernán Krawczyk tried to organise things from Veterinaria's midfield, but his movements proved predictable, slow, out of step with the rhythm imposed by Balvanera. Constantino Tassinari was booked for overzealous defending, but his presence on the right flank was disruptive for the visitors. Ángel Barrios, Veterinaria's midfielder, was outplayed on several occasions, unable to stop the home side's attacking circulation. Pancho Mazza, Balvanera's left-back, linked up well with Sayago in the build-up. The visitor Norberto León, a Rosario playmaker who nevertheless could not piece together anything important, was left floating without support or tactical clarity.

Veterinaria Núñez ends matchday one with no good omens. It was not a humiliation, but there were no responses to spark hope either. Balvanera, by contrast, heads away with the three points in the bag and a sense of control. For ELDT, these comfortable wins are often deceptive: the true level will be known when the pressure tightens.
