Match report
Def. San Cristóbal Centro and Federación Pompeya shared the points in a match that, despite both sides' willingness, ended up as an exercise in mutual containment. The 0-0 at the home stadium left the hosts unable to make the most of playing in front of their fans, while the visitors went away content with a point that allows them to keep ticking along in the middle of the table in Primera L - GBA Oeste, on matchday 10 where nobody wanted to take too many risks.
Both teams lined up in identical 4-4-2 formations and balanced mindsets, which produced a match in which territorial dominance was never excessive for either side. Kevin Leyva, the 28-year-old Córdoba centre-back who turned in a solid afternoon with a 7.1 rating, was decisive in the home side's defensive duties to keep a clean sheet. At the other end, Lucas Baragiola, a 24-year-old midfielder who also posted a 7.1 in his performance, was the necessary link in the visitors' midfield to snuff out the home side's attempts and organise the build-up going forward. The fixture lacked bursts of clarity, those risky moves that usually settle matches like this, and both defenders and midfielders won more battles than they lost.
The truth is that neither side will have reason to celebrate this goalless draw. Def. San Cristóbal Centro wasted a golden chance to extend their points tally at home, while Federación Pompeya will leave with the feeling of having left two points on the pitch. On matchday 10, as the competition begins to tighten up, these dull draws can weigh more heavily than they first appear.
