corcho junior2 - 1Pibes Retiro

El Porvenir de Montserrat took a deserved win at home against Pibes Retiro in a match that had the usual South Zone rhythms: without great flashes, but with just enough intensity for neither side to throw in the towel. With identical line-ups and balanced mindsets on both sides, what decided it was efficiency in attack. The home side managed to score two goals while the visitors could only find the net once, a result that faithfully reflects how the ninety minutes unfolded.

Elías Tagle opened the scoring for El Porvenir de Montserrat with a goal that proved the turning point in a first half where both sides were feeling each other out. The Brazilian striker Mateo Barrios, only twenty-one but already carrying real weight in the side, sealed the second after the Montserrat outfit pressed high up the pitch. Pibes Retiro did not fold: Nazareno Haddad, the experienced thirty-one-year-old striker, pulled one back at a moment when it seemed the match was slipping away from them, and with that goal things became awkward again for the home side in the closing stages. But it was not enough. Renzo Ramos in the hole and Hector Greco on the left handled the tempo well when it was necessary to slow things down. Genaro Zielinski at right-back did his job without standing out, as is fitting in these Regular Season fixtures.

For El Porvenir, it is a victory nothing to boast about, but plenty to build on. Three points in the table and confirmation that this side knows how to look after its own when playing at home. Pibes Retiro, meanwhile, leave with the frustration of having been in the game without being able to finish with the ruthlessness the match demanded. Haddad kept at it until the end, but the visitors will need more than heart if they want to challenge at the top in this Primera I.
