Match report

Real Abasto Reserves took a comfortable win from La Boca with a 2-0 result that laid bare the limitations of a home side that never found tactical or attacking answers. In a match where both teams lined up in similar 4-4-2 formations with balanced mentality, it was the visitors who knew how to exploit the spaces and maintain defensive solidity when needed. Juventud La Boca had the initiative in spells, but their forwards Ronaldo Tomé and Alexis Beizama failed to trouble a defence that worked like a wall. Tomé, at 26 and in his prime as an attacker, barely had any chances to make an impact. Beizama was booked in a match where his aggression did not translate into any real danger for the visitors' goal.

Both of Real Abasto's goals came from home defensive wear and sharpness in transition. Andrés Karam was the outstanding figure for the visitors, scoring one of those goals with the clarity you would expect from a winger who, at 27, knows exactly how to move in these leagues. Esteban Peñaloza, the other forward, provided movement and constant occupation of space that unsettled Giuliano Bassi in the central area. The visitors' full-backs, Bautista Altuna and Gonzalo Zindato, controlled their flanks without fuss; the veteran Uruguayan, 37, showed that experience remains a valid currency even in this division. Wilfredo Weinberg at centre-back kept the line firm.

For Juventud La Boca, the feeling was of a team that needs tactical reorganisation. It was not a disaster, but nor was it enough: the 0-2 correctly reflected the differences. Real Abasto Reserves pick up three crucial points on matchday 3 and are shaping up as a serious contender in this Primera I of GBA Sur. The home side must urgently review what is working in attack, because with Tomé and Beizama alone, it is not going to be enough.
