CR Parque Patricios3 - 0Aurora de Villa Devoto

Parque Patricios were a steamroller on their home pitch. Aurora de Villa Devoto arrived intending to play on equal terms, set up in a balanced 4-4-2 and came up against a home side that knew how to manage their efforts, make the most of their options and wrap up the match without too much fuss. The 3-0 recorded in the match report does not lie: it was a comprehensive victory, the kind that leaves the visitors without an answer and the manager in charge of the pitch with his mind elsewhere before half-time.

The home side were in command from the start. Tomás Vidaurri, that thirty-one-year-old central midfielder who has known every nook and cranny of the club for almost a decade, was the organiser of a midfield that gave Aurora no chance to breathe. With Damian Iriarte and Axel Valli holding things together behind him, the back four were solid. Iriarte, the nineteen-year-old centre-back raised in Merlo amid improvised kickabouts, showed the composure that allows him to play without fear despite his age. Valli, the Patagonian who knows his trade, was measured in his interventions, picked up a booking but did not allow himself to be provoked. Galo Arnaldi on the left, that eighteen-year-old full-back who surprisingly arrived at the club with almost no expectations, was reliable in defence and contributed going forward when asked to get forward and overlap.

What made the difference was the home side's tactical clarity. Máximo Vicente, the thirty-two-year-old Brazilian midfielder who has understood the game for decades, was decisive in creating chances. Vicente scored one of the goals and was a constant source of attacking play. Aurora tried to close down the home midfielders, but Vidaurri and Vicente ultimately won the battle in the middle of the pitch. Agustín Iturbe, the visiting left winger from Merlo, had some good moments but could not turn them into genuine danger. Vidal Arena, just a seventeen-year-old youngster in his first year of professional football, had to stand firm to avoid being exposed by Parque Patricios' attacks.

The goals arrived without the match report capturing the specific details of each one, but the home side's superiority was beyond doubt. There was no drama in the victory: it was a match managed well, with Parque Patricios conserving their energy, making the most of their defensive solidity and executing in attack when necessary. Aurora never found a way to seriously trouble the home goalkeeper. Negro Sacchi, the Lanús centre-back who performs his role without fuss, was not enough to contain the attacking power of the home side.

This was a typical match of superiority: the home side controlled the tempo, the visitors could not break the system and the difference was reflected in the goals. For Parque Patricios, a victory that keeps them in the fight in Primera I GBA Oeste. For Aurora, an afternoon to analyse what went wrong in midfield and why the defence could not find solidity against an opponent who were not spectacular, but were effective.
