Atlético Florida2 - 1Atlético San Fernando

Atlético Florida claimed a deserved victory over Atlético San Fernando on the opening matchday of the Primera E, with a 2-1 scoreline that reflects the tactical balance but also the home side’s ability to make the most of their moments. Both sides lined up in 4-4-2 formations and with balanced mentality, which promised a tight match, and that is exactly how it unfolded. At the Estadio de Florida, the home team found in Beto Castro the most influential figure: the 34-year-old striker, with years in the academy behind him and his experience intact, scored a goal and provided an assist for a rating of 7.7. It was not a spectacular display, but it was sharp, from a veteran who knows where to be when the ball drops near the box. Juan Messi, his attacking partner, also scored and added his attacking contribution with a rating of 7.2, though without shining too brightly.

San Fernando responded with grit. Tato Gallo, the 16-year-old youngster who has arrived almost by chance at this level, pulled one back with a goal that shows the away side had a real presence on the pitch. His rating of 7.2 on his competitive debut promises plenty, though he is clearly at a stage where he is learning more than he is mastering. Mario Lautaro, San Fernando’s right-back, did his part with an assist that shows San Fernando were not just passing through this fixture, but a rival that contested every move.

What is curious is that Mario Bertolini, Atlético Florida’s midfielder at only 20 years old, was booked and now carries that into what comes next, while left-back Federico Aizpurúa (36 years old) and right-sided defender Sebastián Castro kept the home defence in order without any alarms. Florida won because they were sharper in the decisive details, not because they overran their opponents. A Primera E fixture where the opposition makes you work, and the home side answered in kind.
