Villa Crespo Este held off the pressure from a Defensores de San Cristóbal Centro side who came back to level it twice, but it was not enough to take anything back from the west side. The final 3-2 sums up a match in which both teams approached it in a similar way, balanced in shape, but where the home side had that extra spark of clarity at the moments that mattered. The goals from Nilo Funes and Pichi De Luca, both with a rating of 7.2, kept Villa Crespo Este afloat through the trickiest spells. Villa Crespo winger De Luca, who hails from Comodoro Rivadavia, scored his goal once the away team were already breathing easier in the boardroom. Funes, the midfield man aged just 21, also appeared on the scoresheet with the composure demanded by matchday 2 fixtures, when nothing has yet been settled in the league.
At the other end, Cris Buscaglia scored a goal worth its weight in gold for the San Cristóbal side, but it was not enough. The 29-year-old forward made his experience count, although in the closing minutes his team fell short. Enzo Carrizo also found the net for the visitors with a rating of 7.2, which speaks to the attacking effort San Cristóbal Centro put in over the ninety minutes. Agustín Rosati, the 19-year-old youngster who handles the timing well down the left, provided an assist that showed there are resources in the away side to keep battling.
Villa Crespo Este picked up points at home, as expected, but Defensores left the match knowing they had gone toe to toe. Ramón Veronese, the veteran centre-half aged 34, picked up a yellow card on the pitch but did his job as a holding presence in the back line. Jeremías Lera, the goalkeeper developed in Rosario, responded when they needed him. For San Cristóbal, there was the taste of a defeat that could easily have been something else.
