ELDT Season 1: every champion, promotion and relegation

Atlético Boedo won the Primera División title in a season that had absolutely everything. The Boedo side were the best team over the campaign, finishing ahead of Club Barracas, who nevertheless enjoyed an excellent season as runners-up. The relegation battle provided most of the drama: Sportivo La Lucila, Defensores de Tristán Suárez, Atlético Rincón and Sportivo Constitución all went down after failing to maintain the pace demanded at this level.

There was plenty of movement up and down in the Primera Nacional, the second tier. In Zone A, Atlético Parque Patricios and Club Mataderos won their respective promotion battles and moved up to the top flight alongside the Buenos Aires champions, while Atlético Belgrano FC fell short. In Zone B, it was Sportivo Bahía Blanca’s turn to celebrate promotion, joined by Club Punta Alta after they reached the decisive match, while Atletico Magdalena were relegated.

The Primera B Metropolitana, the third tier, had a clear champion in Sportivo Caballito, while Defensores de Bella Vista had to wait until the very end before securing the promotion prize. Atlético San Telmo Norte and Sportivo La Boca had a much tougher time, dropping into the Primera C in a division that is never easy to negotiate.

In the Primera C, Club Wilde lifted the title and Club El Jagüel squeezed into the final promotion battle, while Atlético Junín BA, Sportivo Berazategui, Atlético Monte Grande and Club San Nicolás were sent down to the Primera D. Further down, each Primera D zone had its own champion: Real Alemao Fútbol Club in CABA, Soldados Mancos F.C. in the north, Condor in the west and MCD in the south, all earning the right to keep climbing.

And so it continued down the pyramid. In the first E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L and M divisions, 68 more leagues across the area were on the move, with their own champions and promotion battles, each with a story to tell. There was a bit of everything: modest clubs giving it everything, boards taking big gambles and managers pulling magic out of the hat. It was months of hard work, excitement and football from the top of the system right down to the basement.

Season 1 is now in the history books, and the machine is already getting everything ready for what comes next. To the managers who stayed put, those moving up to test themselves at a higher level and those with unfinished business: the next season won’t wait. Atlético Boedo will have to defend their crown in the Primera División, and everyone else will be coming for them. The football management action goes on, and the best is yet to come.
