Primera División: Matchday 15 roundup

A decisive matchday in the Primera División, Argentina’s top flight. Defensores de La Reja and Club Barracas remain joint top on 29 points, but the result that really caught the eye was Sportivo Pergamino’s 2-0 win at Constitución, keeping them in the title race. Atlético Chacarita Sur also picked up three points at home against Atlético Boedo, while Defensores de Liniers stayed in the leading group with another victory, this time against Defensores del Norte.

There were plenty of surprises this matchday. Club Ituzaingó and Defensores de Tigre Norte shared the points in a goalless draw, a result that does more for the side coming from behind. Defensores de Tristán Suárez put in an excellent away performance to beat Atlético Rincón 2-0, while Club Barracas put Sportivo Castelar to the sword with a big win that underlined their status as league leaders. Atlético Pacheco also took all three points from their trip to La Lucila.

The next matchday looks set to be a tricky one at the top, with Defensores de La Reja and Club Barracas having to defend their lead as the chasing pack looks to close the gap in the table.
