Primera Nacional Zona A: matchday 19 round-up

Atlético Parque Patricios continue to set the pace in Zona A after beating Sportivo Villa Lugano 3-1. The Parque Patricios side now have 40 points and look to be going all out in the Primera Nacional, the second tier. Villa Lugano could not cope with the leaders’ power and paid dearly for their defensive mistakes on a matchday when the sides at the top were determined to hold on to their positions.

The other leaders also did their jobs. Defensores de Flores claimed an important 1-0 win over Atlético Pompeya and retained second place with 34 points. Defensores de Palermo could not take all three points against Atlético Belgrano FC, drawing 0-0 to leave them on 32 points, while Defensores de Villa Urquiza moved up the table after beating Club Saavedra 1-0 and joining the chasing pack on 29 points.

The rest of the round had a bit of everything. Club Mataderos rescued a 1-1 draw against Club Villa Soldati to remain in the fight for the top spots. Atlético Villa Pueyrredón and Atlético Recoleta, meanwhile, could not find a way through against Club Almagro Sur and Sportivo Once respectively, settling for goalless draws. Sportivo Nuñez had no luck, losing 2-1 at home to Parque Patricios in a match the visitors knew how to make the most of.

The next matchday promises plenty of movement at the top, so keep an eye on who can continue to close the gap on the leaders.
