Primera Nacional Zona A: Matchday 8 preview (Season 2)

The big game in Zona A on matchday 8 is the clash between Defensores de Bella Vista and Atlético Recoleta. Bella Vista are in a right mess: bottom of the group with just one point and on a dreadful run of three straight defeats. Recoleta, meanwhile, are flying in fourth with 14 points and have shown real consistency in their recent outings. For the sides at the bottom, this is a must-win; for those near the top, it is a chance to keep the pressure on.

But several teams in the group are in trouble. Defensores de Villa Urquiza are the other victims of the campaign: with just 3 points and sitting second from bottom, they host Sportivo Once, who have climbed away from the foot of the table and are now challenging near the top with 12 points. Once have not exactly been on a spectacular run lately, but they have won their last two matches — more than Villa Urquiza can currently dream of.

In the battle at the top, Sportivo La Lucila look like the team to beat: top of the table with 19 points and an impressive record in recent matchdays, despite one draw among all those wins. They face Club Almagro Sur, who are gradually finding their feet with two consecutive victories, but could still be easy prey if the leaders are fully switched on.

There is movement everywhere in mid-table. Club Villa Soldati are second with 16 points and arrive after a recent dip; they travel to Sportivo Villa Lugano, who are third with 14 and are also going through an inconsistent spell. Further down, Atlético Rincón (5th with 13) host Sportivo Nuñez in a meeting where both sides need points to avoid falling behind in the race.

The matchday promises plenty of movement in the table. Every game kicks off at 21:00, so there is football from one end of the Primera Nacional, Argentina's second tier, to the other tonight. Follow all the action live and see how Zona A takes shape after this crucial matchday.
