Primera Nacional Zone A: Matchday 9 preview (Season 2)

Matchday 9 looks tricky for the teams battling it out at the top of the table. Sportivo La Lucila, top of the table with five wins from five, face Sportivo Once, who are flying after three wins in their last four. They are no pushovers when you are top: Once will put the leaders under serious pressure, and La Lucila will have to show why they are where they are. Meanwhile, Sportivo Villa Lugano, second with 17 points, host Club Almagro Sur, who are struggling near the bottom of the table but have just found some form with two wins on the bounce. Be warned: teams at the bottom can be dangerous once they get going.

Villa Soldati are third and arrive on the back of two defeats, although they still have a healthy points haul. They travel to Atlético Rincón in a match where the team higher up the table needs to bounce back, while the hosts have been inconsistent. Rincón are three matchdays without a win and urgently need all three points to avoid falling further behind, so they will be going for it at home.

The teams battling in mid-table also have plenty to do. Defensores de Flores have drawn their last two and host Sportivo Villa Ortúzar, who are in the mix. Atlético Pompeya are sliding after three straight defeats and need a quick response when they welcome Defensores de Villa Urquiza, another side having a difficult time. And Club Saavedra, with just one win in five, have a golden opportunity at home against Defensores de Bella Vista, who are bottom of the pile.

There are eight matches across the group, all kicking off tonight at 21:00. The teams at the top must show consistency, those in the middle have a chance to close the gap, and the sides at the bottom are desperate for points. So, if you want to see who takes the points and how the table looks after this burst of fixtures, get comfortable: there is plenty to keep an eye on.
