Match report

La Gloria de Liniers and Parque Centenario shared the points in a match that reflected two squads of similar characteristics, balanced in their tactical set-up and without too many ambitions of dominance. The 1-1 final score was fair, although it could have had a different complexion had either side shown greater conviction at the key moments. In Liniers, the home side controlled the initiative for spells of the match, but without turning that possession into attacking clarity. The visitors, however, knew how to make the most of their chances with greater efficiency in certain passages, which allowed them to keep the balance on the pitch in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood.

Antonio Izquierdo was the main man who ended up owing the most to La Gloria: he scored the goal that looked to have given them the three points, but his side could not see the game out when it was needed. For the visitors, Víctor Barba levelled things up with his goal, showing the ability to respond that characterises the Parque Centenario side. The midfielder, who also picked up a yellow card during the ninety minutes, was one of the most active in winning the ball back. Christian Zimmermann, at just seventeen years of age, had valuable minutes as the central playmaker and registered an assist, showing that the visiting club has in the youngster a present and future asset. Eric Trapani, for his part, pressed constantly from the left without doing too much attacking damage. Yago Villari was Liniers' utility man on the right, although his contribution faded in the second half.

Parque Centenario leave satisfied, at least in emotional terms: they knew how to go into hostile territory, maintain defensive compactness and not buckle under the home crowd's mood. For Liniers, meanwhile, the feeling remains one of two points dropped rather than one gained. On matchday 5 of Primera L-GBA Norte, both identical approaches produced a predictable match, where individual performances played a secondary role.
