Cooperativa Abasto gave Defensa Retiro Centro no chances on a Zona Norte afternoon. The home side imposed its logic from the off with a balanced formation that knew how to contain and make the most of the spaces, closing out the match with a 2-0 that was fully deserved. Genaro Yedlin scored one of the goals in the first half, and although the visitors tried to press at certain moments, they never created the danger they would have needed to trouble Theo Álvarez in the home goal.
Midfield was where a good part of the fixture was decided. Chino Turi, with the 34 years he carries but still a fresh mind, distributed the play from his holding midfield role with judgement, while Santino Altzaga, the Brazilian of just 19 years old, brought mobility to the ball-winning area. For Defensa Retiro Centro, Manuel Prieto tried to create something down the right, but Polaco Zanchi, the full-back who knows these competitions' codes well, neutralised him without excessive effort. Juan Mazza, in the visitors' goal, had little to do but was alert when needed. Bautista Arcuri, the Tandil centre-back, was booked for recklessness, a sign of the pressure exerted by the home side.
The second goal came with no drama, consolidating a superiority that was never questioned. Cooperativa Abasto keep adding points in the group with a solid structure that offers no easy cracks. For Defensa Retiro Centro, this defeat leaves the feeling of a team that needs to find more attacking options; the balanced mindset was not enough when the opponent controlled the tempo. Three precious points for the hosts in matchday 5.
