El Vencedor de San Telmo did not need fireworks to see off CJ Villa Lugano on matchday 5 of Primera L - GBA Norte. With a clean and convincing 2-0, the home side controlled the tempo of a match in which both teams came out with the same tactical idea: an even 4-4-2 that in the end favoured the side that executed it better. The San Telmo side had control without ever needing to panic, while the visitors never found the gaps to get into the match.
Horacio Wisniewski was the attacking focal point for the home side, moving intelligently from centre-forward and posting a 7.4 rating that reflects a hard-working afternoon. Pedro Arrigorriaga, the 30-year-old right-back with that old-school, all-round know-how, capped his fine display with a goal that put numbers on the scoreboard. In midfield, Kiki Levin on the left and Ronaldo Silvestre at centre midfield completed a side that functioned as expected. At the other end, Chacho Merlo barely had any room up front, while Aaron Porras did his defensive job competently without being able to add any creativity from full-back. Tobías Vassallo was booked without being able to change the flow of the game from his holding role.
What Villa Lugano showed was the feeling of a side uncomfortable from the outset, never in tune with what El Vencedor was proposing. There were no dramatic collapses or red cards, just the quiet imposition of a rival who made its home advantage count without ever needing to overexpose itself. For El Vencedor de San Telmo, three points that strengthen their run in the competition. For CJ Villa Lugano, an outstanding task: finding a way to compete away from home in a division where their defence only just manages containment.
