Club Monte Castro1 - 0Estrella La Boca

Monte Castro knew how to manage what it had on the pitch and it was enough to take the local derby against Estrella La Boca. A goal from Emanuel Lobos at right-back was enough for the home side to take the three points on a day when both teams set up the same way: two banks of four, defensive balance, little appetite for risk. The visitors came with Osvaldo Souto in midfield trying to break the structure, but the twenty-three-year-old central midfielder could not find the space he was looking for. For Estrella La Boca, Renzo De Rossi had his moments up front but the eighteen-year-old forward could not connect with the finishing touch he needed. The difference was that Monte Castro, with its more compact structure, knew how to convert the chances when they came.

Tincho Ávila and Adriano Giménez formed a centre-back pairing that worked well in defence, containing Estrella La Boca's attempts without the need for any extraordinary reinforcements. Rafael Mira in the provincial midfield did his job, although he was booked for an unnecessary challenge. It was Lobos, the home side's right-back with his trademark power, who settled the match with that goal which allowed Monte Castro to breathe easy in the final minutes. Franco Buratti, the sixteen-year-old youngster who made his debut as a centre-back for the visitors, tried to stand up to it but the experience of the home defence was a hard obstacle to overcome.

The result keeps Monte Castro in the running in the group, while Estrella La Boca are unable to pick up any points away from home. It was not a match to remember for its quality, but it was for what it made clear: in Primera L in the southern group, the details decide it. Monte Castro spotted them, took one, and that was enough for them.
