Sportivo Belgrano R Norte0 - 1Patriotas Núñez

Patriotas Núñez took a narrow but deserved win from the pitch of Sportivo Belgrano R Norte, in a match where both sides set out with similar systems but the visitors had the clearer minds at the decisive moments. Damian Neumann’s goal, the veteran striker of thirty-four years, made the difference on an afternoon where football was played with balance but where the home side lacked precision in the final third. Belgrano R Norte failed to make the most of their openings and Patriotas knew how to wait, take their chance and shut up shop to bring the three points back from the capital.

The match unfolded along the same tactical lines: two 4-4-2 shapes that prioritised balance over gambles. Cris Bonechi, the nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder for Patriotas, was the visitors’ attacking brain with his 7.7 rating, constantly moving the ball from inside positions and creating space for his teammates to circulate. In midfield, Lionel Berazadi carried out a key holding role with his 7.5 rating. For Belgrano, Sasha Barbieri tried to create play down the right, although his performance was more steady than decisive, without managing to define the match. Lauti Quintana had work to do in defence. Gabi Castelo, who picked up a yellow card, was the liveliest on the left but without turning his intentions into anything concrete.

Efficiency was the factor that tipped the balance. Neumann, the sort of player veteran heads have the knack of reading in space, appeared at exactly the right moment to score. Mauricio Cacciatore in Patriotas’ goal was barely troubled, though he was not particularly tested either. Belgrano R Norte finished with intent but without the touch of precision that modern football punishes without mercy. For the home side, there is the frustration of having created chances; for Patriotas, the confirmation that in Primera L these tight matches are also won with defensive solidity and calm in front of goal.
