Sportivo Once Sur left Villa Crespo with all three points in the bag after a match that was never a spectacle but was fair enough. The Mendoza side settled it in the area least expected: Walter Bonaventura, the twenty-one-year-old striker who knows how to hit the ball with precision, scored the only goal of the afternoon in a match where both teams set up in similar ways, with no intention of taking too many risks. Club de Villa Crespo Este had their chances but failed to make them count; the visiting defence, with Manuel Belmonte making a safe save in goal despite his thirty-seven years, did not give an inch.
The match was a clash of identical line-ups where the fine details made the difference. Cristian Iturbe, Once Sur's central midfielder, just twenty years old but with a 7.5 rating, was decisive in breaking up play and distributing the ball. For the home side, Ramiro Visini tried to make things happen from midfield but could not create enough from his twenty-two metres and forward. Maxi Sotomayor, the promising youngster from Tandil, was booked in a match where he looked hungry but without the space he needs. Pichi González, from the visitors' left, was a constant nuisance; at thirty-one he still has the pace to trouble full-backs. Ramón Veronese, the Villa Crespo Este centre-back aged thirty-four, put in a solid performance without any fuss: he is a veteran who understands positioning and does not get caught out, but against a Silvio Merlo who is not an easy player to mark, there were moments when concentration wavered.
Sportivo Once Sur take the win from a zone where every point is worth gold in Primera L. Villa Crespo Este are left unable to respond after a defeat that hurts more for what was lost than for what was conceded. It was one of those tight matches where the details decide it; Once Sur found their moment, did not waste it, and that in lower-league football is everything you need.
