General Pueyrredón de Constitución and Aurora de Villa Devoto shared the points in the first match of the season in Primera I - GBA Oeste, in a draw that felt like a win for neither side. The match unfolded in an even fashion, with both teams opting for 4-4-2 formations and cautious mentalities that were ultimately reflected in the 1-1 scoreline, leaving both managers with mixed feelings. It was a match in which the result was fair, although neither side left satisfied with what they had produced on the pitch.
Tomi Verdi, a 23-year-old Rosario-born midfielder with a 7.2 rating, was Pueyrredón's standout player at home. Verdi scored the goal that put the home side ahead, although it was not enough to secure all three points. For the visitors, Liam Bilbao replied with the equaliser, leaving the 25-year-old central midfielder as Aurora's saviour on this opening matchday. Right-back Vidal Arena, just 17 years old, showed defensive commitment and also provided an assist that proved decisive. Rocco Grasso, Pueyrredón's goalkeeper with a 7.1 rating, put in a assured performance, although he picked up a yellow card during the match that affects his next appearance.
For General Pueyrredón, the home draw leaves a bittersweet taste: surrendering the lead on their debut is a point that will weigh on them in the coming weeks. For Aurora, salvaging a point away from home has its value, although it also represents a missed opportunity to make a winning start. Both teams have plenty to work on ahead of matchday 2, when they will look to improve the details that prevented them from taking all three points.
