Unión Balvanera and Central de Belgrano R El Barrio shared the points on the opening matchday of Primera I GBA Oeste, drawing 1-1 in a result that left mixed feelings. Both teams arrived with similar approaches, using balanced 4-4-2 formations that aimed to control the tempo without taking too many risks. The result was fair in the end, although either side could have won at different stages of the match.
Thiago Trento opened the scoring for the home side with a goal that reflected his ability to appear in dangerous areas, although he later received a yellow card that will force him to play carefully in the coming matchdays. The 26-year-old midfielder put in a 6.9-rated performance, doing a solid job in midfield without being decisive. At the other end, Javier Wolf equalised for the visitors. The 31-year-old striker, with plenty of experience, did not let the opportunity pass and showed that he remains a danger in the opposition penalty area. With a rating of 7.2, he was Belgrano's main attacking threat. Yamil Vega, Unión's left-back, put in a good defensive performance with a rating of 7.2, although there was little he could do to stop Wolf from getting into clear positions. Hernán Turetta, the visiting central midfielder aged just 17, showed maturity with a rating of 7.1 despite his youth, doing his job without fuss in a position that demands intelligence.
The draw leaves both teams feeling that they failed to fulfil their duties. Unión Balvanera were playing at home and had the chance to gain an advantage, but lacked the cutting edge at key moments. Central de Belgrano R El Barrio took what they could from their away trip, although it is clear they will have to improve defensively if they want to compete seriously. Ahead of the next matchday, both sides will need to correct tactical details that this draw exposed.
