Indep. Villa Soldati1 - 3Monte grande FC

The side from Parque Chacabuco left Villa Soldati with a win that left no room for doubt. Three goals in the bag and the calm of a team in command from start to finish. The away side carried out its plan efficiently, making the most of the space the home team was giving away at the back. Independiente Villa Soldati had moments of response —Kiki Müller scored to narrow the gap— but never managed to generate the sustained pressure required to turn around a match decided by the opposition’s finishing.

Faustino Zerbi was the man of the match. The 24-year-old striker scored twice with the precision of someone who knows the box by heart. With a rating of 8.4, Zerbi made no mistakes and became the main tormentor of Villa Soldati’s defence. Backing him up, Rodrigo Astudillo —the experienced Mendoza-born forward aged 33— made his contribution with composure in the air and with his passing. In midfield, Julián Aizpún, that youngster of just 17 who arrived at El Vencedor almost by chance, showed good judgement in his movement, though he picked up a yellow card in an attempt to halt the away side’s tide. Marcos Baccaro in goal was solid; Adriano Landa on the right was a key cog in the away side’s performance.

For Villa Soldati, Müller tried to keep the dream alive with his goal, but at 33 it is not enough when the team cannot hold firm at the back. The result is fair based on the performance. El Vencedor did not indulge in unnecessary flair, controlled the tempo and punished when needed. Villa Soldati are left with questions about how they allowed a neutral away side to carry out its game so comfortably on their pitch.
