Match report

Cooperativa San Telmo took a well-earned victory from Real Abasto Reservas' pitch in a match where both sides came with similar plans, but the visitors knew how to make better use of their moments. The final 2-1 reflected what the fixture was: tight, balanced, with neither side establishing any clear superiority, but with San Telmo more clinical when it came to finishing. Tomi Aramburu had put the home side ahead with a goal that seemed to put the match on course, but San Telmo's response came with authority.

Jeremías Trevisan, a 25-year-old holding midfielder who knows these southern-zone fixtures well, levelled it with a goal that gave the visitors some breathing room. Then came Liam Baldini, the 17-year-old youngster from Mendoza who played as an attacking midfielder, and he sealed the comeback for San Telmo when the match was already tactically settled. The youngster did not put in a spectacular performance — his 6.9 rating confirms that — but in reserve football, a goal at 17 carries weight. Adrián Piñero, San Telmo's goalkeeper, 25 years old and rated 7.6, was assured when needed. Mirko Zurita, the 26-year-old Brazilian centre-back, did a fine job in the visitors' defence, with a 7.7 rating he was among the most solid on the pitch. Aramburu's effort was not quite enough to keep Abasto afloat despite his goal: at 16 he has left-footed talent, but he lacked help in midfield.

For San Telmo it was a victory that comes at a time when these three away points are useful to keep alive the dream of fighting at the top in Primera I GBA Sur. In Abasto there is the feeling of a match that slipped away through details, the kind that separate the side that wins from the one that goes home empty-handed in the southern zone.
