Argentino de Chacarita1 - 0Aurora de Parque Patricios

Argentino de Chacarita made the most of home advantage to take a win that felt fair on a pitch where Aurora de Parque Patricios never found the attacking compass. The 1-0 was the reflection of a tight match, one of those where neither side dared much and football got stuck in midfield. Both sides opted for caution: two balanced 4-4-2s that prioritised defensive order rather than taking risks down the flanks. The difference was made by Víctor Boni, the 32-year-old striker who, with experience tattooed into his body, scored the goal that would define the afternoon in Chacarita.

Boni, who joined the club almost as a footnote from regional football more than a decade ago, showed he still has enough craft to settle things when it matters. Goalkeeper Jesús Rizzo, just 20 but with a 7.7 rating, kept a clean sheet without needing to perform miracles; his task was limited to the manageable. For the visitors, Matías Arratia and Tiziano Triboldi tried to hold off the onslaught with defensive solidity to match their years: both over 30, both with neighbourhood experience. Pipa Barrenetxea, the home side's left winger with a 7.7 rating and that battling background common to those who grow up in Bahía Blanca, went into the book for his endeavour. Mateo Cantero, the visitors' young striker at just 23, also picked up a card, but his showing was imprecise, with no clear link to what was happening behind him.

For Aurora de Parque Patricios, it was left with the feeling of a missed opportunity. It was not a robbery, but nor was it a match in which they were clearly outplayed. Argentino de Chacarita banked three points through the right kind of game management from a home side that knows the timings well. Matchday 16 of the Primera I capitalina left the hosts in a better position, though without dazzling, while the visitors will have to review why such a well-built formation failed to create any real danger up front.
