AA Villa Urquiza Reserva1 - 2Atlético Villa Devoto

Atlético Villa Devoto took a deserved win from the pitch of AA Villa Urquiza Reserva in a match where both sides set up in the same way, but the visitors had the composure to make it count. The final 2-1 sums up what happened well: a tight contest, with no huge differences, where efficiency was the decisive factor. Villa Urquiza had their chances, even going ahead through a goal from Nahuel Tagle, but they could not hold on to the lead. The 23-year-old midfielder had a good match in midfield, though his goalscoring contribution was not enough. Diego Téllez, the striker from Comodoro Rivadavia, provided an assist but fell short in front of goal.

At the other end, Villa Devoto found their route down the flanks and through the movement of their midfield. Mateo Sironi, a youngster of just 18 who grew up on the rough pitches in his neighbourhood, showed a maturity rare for his age in central midfield, producing a huge amount of movement that unsettled the home side's play. The real damage came from the wide areas: Faustino Calabria, a 27-year-old left-back with plenty of experience, scored one of the goals; while Gael Mella, a 24-year-old attacking midfielder brought up in Merlo, also found the net. Both had constant access to the opposition penalty area. Sandro Saéz, a 17-year-old centre-back who arrived from Resistencia two years ago, stood firm at the back and was only booked in a match where discipline mattered.

What this result leaves is a Villa Urquiza side that runs out of steam in the Primera I of CABA, a team that needed points at home and could not keep hold of them. For Villa Devoto, it is a victory that strengthens their away campaign, with three points that carry weight in the standings and confirmation that they have players in several areas capable of competing on equal terms.
