Club Paternal0 - 1Atlético Villa Chiche

Club Paternal had a night to forget at home. They fell 1-0 to CR Barracas in a match where both teams set up with similar systems, but only one knew how to take advantage of its chances. The goal came from Rocco Castro, the visitors’ right winger, who found the space he needed to finish. A deserved win in a tight encounter, where the difference lay in the details and in the ability to execute when it mattered most. Paternal were not impotent, but neither did they create enough to put pressure on a Barracas side that defended in an organised manner.

The home side’s defence had a difficult afternoon. Benicio Werner, a 25-year-old centre-back, and Lalo Rosati on the right flank could not find a way to contain the visiting team’s attacks. Rafael Vilas on the left tried to contribute going forward, but his actions were sporadic. Camilo Aragón, a Brazilian goalkeeper aged just 20, had little to do for most of the match, apart from the decisive moment when Castro got the better of him. Bruno Varisco, Barracas’ experienced 29-year-old defender, was booked but fulfilled his defensive role. Felipe Zanforlin, the visitors’ left-back with a rating of 7.4, was a constant presence in his area.

For Paternal, this result leaves a bitter taste on matchday 16 of Primera I de CABA. The team failed to turn pressure into goals, while Barracas knew how to be effective: they arrived, attacked with purpose and took all three points. ELDT will have to rethink certain attacking aspects and look for greater incisiveness in the coming matches. The gap between playing well and winning is always there, and Paternal suffered it in full on this occasion.
