Unión Once4 - 2Mutual Abasto

Unión Once were too much for Mutual Abasto in Santa Fe. With the score reaching four goals, the home side dominated from start to finish on an afternoon where the visitors never found a way to stop an attacking machine that ran smoothly throughout. Both squads lined up in a balanced 4-4-2, but the difference lay in execution: while the home side made the most of every chance, the men from Resistencia barely created any real danger in the opposition box.

Omar Sarmiento was the master of ceremonies in the middle of Unión Once's pitch. The central midfielder, at 25 years of age and with a rating of 7.7, pulled the strings without fuss, linking up well and winning the ball back in dangerous areas. Mirko Bonelli, still only 17, put in a holding display that constantly troubled Mutual Abasto: the youngster from Merlo, with a goalscorer's nose in his defensive role, not only won possession but also scored. Osvaldo Pedraza also found the net, adding his name to an attacking feast where Ariel Zorzi completed the tally with his finishing up front. Valentino Zoppi in defence was solid, although Geremías Barba, the visitors' centre-back at just 17, tried to hold out without too many tools. Brian Nieto pulled one back for the visitors, but it was not enough against a Unión Once side that controlled the tempo without needing to overexert themselves.

The emphatic result leaves the home side as serious contenders in the northern zone of Primera I-GBA, while Mutual Abasto will need some serious self-criticism. It was not a tight or competitive match: it was the difference between a team in form and another still searching for its direction.
