Sportivo Belgrano R Norte and Deportivo Villa Crespo Veteranos shared the points in a match where both tactical set-ups coexisted with little friction. The 1-1 draw at the home side's pitch, on matchday seven of the Primera L de CABA, left the feeling of a contest where neither side wanted to take too many risks and both were satisfied with what they achieved. Two identical line-ups, two balanced mindsets, two results that satisfy neither but disappoint neither.
Santi Yedro, a thirty-year-old striker who arrived at Belgrano almost by chance years ago, was the man to open the scoring for the hosts. His goal kept Sportivo ahead for a spell that seemed enough, but Rodolfo Zapata, a Villa Crespo striker who knows all about arriving late to an opportunity, levelled the score. Zapata brings experience at twenty-six, the sort of player who understands the match without needing searing pace. Alberto Braun, a Mendocino midfielder of just twenty-two, was booked during the contest, while for the visitors it was Zapata himself who received a yellow card. At the back, right-back Walter Mazur made his presence felt for Villa Crespo in a line that did not give up unnecessary ground, and his colleague Silvio Romiti backed up the block with solidity.
The match unfolded without major shocks, without the kind of drama these fixtures often provide when someone goes out determined to win. Belgrano R Norte had their chance with Yedro but could not add a second, while Villa Crespo Veteranos found in Zapata the right response at the right time. Both teams leave with a point that keeps their hopes alive, though neither can boast of having dominated. In the Primera L de CABA, there are matchdays where a draw is the most honest thing football can say.
