Atlético Villa Devoto FC0 - 0Federación Constitución

Villa Devoto and Federación Constitución met in a match in which both toned down their ambitions from the outset. With identical 4-4-2 formations and balanced mindsets, what unfolded was a clash without too many surprises: a goalless draw that left satisfied the side that came not to lose and underwhelmed the one playing at home. Matchday 5 of the Primera L de CABA produced a scoreless draw that reflected two teams seeking stability more than attacking adventure.

Villa Devoto had in Ian Balerdi a winger who tried to break down the right, although the Merlo native did not find the spaces he expected on an afternoon when Federación’s full-backs closed the channels well. In midfield, both teams prioritised containment over creativity, with only rare moments of attacking fluency. Federación, meanwhile, had Rodolfo Viani in attack, the nineteen-year-old forward who came on hungry but could not finish the chances he had; he picked up a yellow card for his actions. Lorenzo Carrizo, his partner up front at twenty-six, also failed to trouble the home defence on a sustained basis. Gastón Zola, Villa Devoto’s Paraguayan centre-back, fulfilled his role as defensive organiser without any major alarms.

The draw leaves both teams with a point that is not entirely satisfying but neither is it desperate. For Villa Devoto, playing at home without winning is always a bitter taste, although avoiding defeat against a visitor who arrived intending to take something positive has its merit. Federación, far from Buenos Aires in terms of approach, takes home the point from the trip having taken too many risks. A match that will be quickly forgotten, typical of those days when neither winner nor loser has stories to tell.
