Match report

San Cayetano FC showed no mercy on matchday 5 of the Primera I del GBA Sur. Against El Vencedor de Parque Chacabuco, the home side imposed its authority from the first half with an organised display that exploited the weaknesses of an away defence that never found any solidity. The final 3-1 leaves no room for doubt: it was a comfortable win for the hosts, who managed the pace with the calm that comes from playing at home.

Geremías Velasco was the undisputed star of the afternoon. The 27-year-old striker, that Cordobese lad brought up in the oilfield rigours of Comodoro Rivadavia, scored two goals with the precision of someone who knows where he needs to be. With a rating of 8.4, Velasco was always a problem for the visiting back line. Leonel Besozzi supported well down the left flank, and he also scored from his attacking run and showed the defensive qualities that define him. Faustino Zerbi, the "Zurdo" who arrived from Resistencia, pulled one back for El Vencedor with some merit, but his effort was diluted on an afternoon when the home side controlled the tempo. Iván Aranzazu provided an assist that shows his active involvement in the away midfield, although his 22 years and a rating of 6.5 highlighted the limitations of a centre-back who still needs to gain experience.

San Cayetano handled the balanced 4-4-2 with more judgement than their rivals. Leonardo Calegari, the 30-year-old left-back with experience to spare, was a wall in defence. El Vencedor de Parque Chacabuco, despite lining up with tactical balance as well, never managed to create the chances needed to truly trouble them. A painful defeat, because the opponent did nothing extraordinary; they were simply superior in execution and concentration.
