Match report
Estrella Villa Riachuelo took a deserved win in Haedo, where Def. Agronomía Centro could not break down an away defence that knew how to ration its effort and make the most of its moments of clarity. The goal came through Pepe Aguilar, who made one of the few dangerous chances created by the seaside side count. Both sides set up in a balanced 4-4-2, with no intention of taking unnecessary risks, which led to a contained game where misplaced passes and sloppy touches in the opposition half were plentiful.
Def. Agronomía Centro failed to make home advantage count. Luis Coelho, the 31-year-old goalkeeper from Bahía Blanca, did his job without any alarms, although he also had no real saves of note to make. Lionel Zambon, the 17-year-old centre-back who plays from the south side of the city, was booked but maintained a solidity that is no surprise at his age. Sergio Pessina on the left tried to create chaos but his crosses were off target. At the other end, Cayetano Núñez on the right was more consistent, though he too saw yellow. Tincho Plaza in midfield was Estrella's metronome, spreading the ball intelligently, while Indio Bagnara, the 17-year-old left winger with that defining scar, provided width and pace down the flanks. Lucas Piotrowski from attacking midfield linked play without dazzling.
The result can be considered fair because Estrella Villa Riachuelo managed their resources better and did not force situations. For Def. Agronomía Centro there is the frustration of not making the most of home advantage. With this defeat, the home side drifts further away from the top places on matchday 5 of Primera I del GBA Sur, while the visitors move forward with firm steps in the bid to stay in the qualification spots.
