Ferro Balvanera0 - 0Sportivo Flores Sur

Ferro Balvanera and Sportivo Flores Sur shared the spoils in a fixture that neatly summed up both sides’ balanced plans. No goals on the board, no major drama, nothing like what the fans/supporters were hoping for on the opening matchday of the Primera L de CABA. The match unfolded under a tactical order that both sides respected almost monastically: two 4-4-2 shapes, two balanced mentalities, and the result many feared before the first whistle.

Ferro had in Hugo Montoya, the nineteen-year-old centre-back with a 7.2 rating, a solid display at the back. The youngster showed the game-reading ability that marks him out, anticipating movements without needing to panic. Horacio Bonansea, a left winger of the same age and with a 7.1 rating, found no space to burst past his marker with any real clarity; the visitors’ defensive system kept a close eye on him. On the right, Oliverio Scopelliti, a veteran of thirty-seven with experience that carries weight, carried out his defensive duties without any major scares. For Sportivo, Mirko Baragiola at left-back (rating 7, booking in his name) was steady if unspectacular, a full-back who held firm without overcommitting.

What lingered in the air was a certain lack of attacking depth from both sides. Neither was prepared to push too far forward knowing any mistake could be punished. It was a draw that perhaps everyone deserved, though that “everyone deserved it” can sometimes sound like cheap consolation. For Ferro, a point at home was not what they had dreamed of; for Flores Sur, this 0-0 away from home feels more like a recovery than a frustration. The Primera L got under way without shocks or surprises.
