Reservas Boedo1 - 0Club de Floresta Este

Reservas Boedo took a win they knew how to grind out at the stadium, though not without effort. Against Club de Floresta Este, in a match where both sides opted for tactical balance in their 4-4-2, the home side had to do enough to get over the line. Rodolfo Prieto’s goal made the difference, the only strike in a night where efficiency mattered more than intensity. It was not a spectacle, but Reservas Boedo understood that on the opening matchday of the Primera L de CABA, wins are wins, even when they come by the narrowest of margins.

The match unfolded in evenly balanced terms, with both teams showing each other respect and no great attacking flourishes. Gael Conti, the home goalkeeper, 31 years old and with experience written all over his hands, had hardly any real work to do in goal. Reservas Boedo’s defence operated as a unit, with Víctor Retegui in his prime at 23 years old and Ezequiel Vitale, the 33-year-old veteran centre-half, reading well the movements coming at them from up front. Ángel Marchetti on the right tried to create danger from the flank, but the visiting side kept its shape compact. Quique Zacarías, the Mendoza goalkeeper, just 17 years old, who defends Floresta Este, looked comfortable in the few moments when he had to step in. Aaron Gareca and Lolo Leyva maintained the visitor’s defensive order without major scares, although they also failed to push forward with any real purpose.

The result, then, came down to who was sharper. Prieto did not hesitate when his chance arrived, and that goal gave Boedo the three points it wanted. Floresta Este left the stadium unable to truly trouble them, with a side still trying to find its rhythm. Conti was booked at the end, perhaps out of nerves in the closing minutes. A suitable win to start the tournament, without glory but with profit.
