Match report
Liga Núñez secured a deserved win in GBA Oeste against General Pueyrredón de Constitución, in a match where both teams set up in the same way but one knew how to be more effective. The 1-0 came through a goal from Dante Zumpano, the 33-year-old midfielder who showed on the pitch why he remains a key part of the home side’s system. It was a tight encounter, one of those where the difference is decided by fine margins, with neither side given much space. Liga Núñez controlled the game without overwhelming their opponents, while General Pueyrredón never felt out of the match despite finishing empty-handed.
The visiting team defended in an organised manner, with their centre-backs Constantino Bertone and youngster Máximo Cabrera tasked with containing the opposition, but the home side knew how to make better use of transitions. Vicente Rosas, a 30-year-old winger with all his Patagonian know-how, was a constant nuisance down the right, while Bruno Wieczorek, the 18-year-old Lanús midfielder, showed plenty of fight in his recovery work. In defence, Joaco Vidaurri at centre-back and Álvaro Gareca at right-back maintained the necessary order. General Pueyrredón had their moments, but their forward Samuel Pelletti failed to make himself dangerous; he was booked while attempting to create some friction.
Zumpano’s goal divided the teams in a match where nobody made any glaring errors. Liga Núñez secured the three points on matchday 5 and continue to add points at home. For General Pueyrredón, it was a match that felt salvageable: they played well and defended intelligently, but lacked the attacking effectiveness that sets winning teams apart. Now they must press on.
