Central de Belgrano R El Barrio and Aurora de Villa Devoto played out an inconsequential match on matchday 5 of Primera I - GBA Oeste, where a goalless draw was the most honest result possible. At the home ground, both teams opted for identical set-ups, each lining up in a 4-4-2 with a balanced mentality, leading to a match in which neither side dared to take too many risks. It was not an ugly match in the sense of being violent, but rather one devoid of attacking intent. Both managers seemed happier not to lose than ambitious to win.
Hernán Turetta, the seventeen-year-old central midfielder who dictates play for Central de Belgrano, put in a sound performance within his defensive role, with a rating of 7.1 reflecting a display without mistakes but also without flashes of brilliance. On the right, Thiago Bargnesi showed the characteristic stability of someone who has spent years at the club, although he was unable to create any real danger in attack. On the other side, Negro Sacchi was disciplined in defence for Aurora de Villa Devoto, carrying out his responsibilities without needing to make a great show of it. Genaro Tagliaferri, the 37-year-old visiting right winger, barely had any opportunities to make an impact; his experience was not enough to break through a well-organised home formation, although he picked up a booking through his eagerness to take centre stage.
The result perfectly reflects how a match ends when both teams prioritise giving nothing away. Central de Belgrano earn a point at home without having created any real danger, while Aurora take advantage of the away fixture to avoid defeat on opposition territory. For both sides, in an area as competitive as GBA Oeste, a point has its value, but it also leaves the feeling of a missed opportunity. The numbers do not lie: no goals, no excitement.
