General Pueyrredón de Constitución and Veteranos de Saavedra shared the points in a match that reflected both teams’ balanced approaches. The final 1-1 scoreline, with goals from Marcelo Sgarbi for the home side and Tincho Rosati for the visitors, left neither completely satisfied, although both could make a case for having won. It was a match in which the 4-4-2 formations cancelled each other out, with neither side clearly imposing its game plan.
General Pueyrredón’s right-back opened the scoring with a goal that was surprising coming from him, a defender who rarely ventures into the opposition box. With a rating of 6.9, Sgarbi performed his role with his customary solidity, although he also received a yellow card on an afternoon when he had to deal with Veteranos’ attacks down the flank. At the other end, 20-year-old Tincho Rosati replied for the visitors, showing that spark of youth most newcomers carry with a touch of naivety. The Resistencia midfielder scored his goal on a pitch where he showed good judgement, while Lorenzo Valsecchi provided the assist, making his reading of the game from midfield count.
In defence, Mauricio Naranjo (7.2) was a reliable centre-back for the visitors, while 33-year-old Pedro Jimenez still showed the reflexes of an experienced player at right-back for Saavedra, although he too was booked. The draw was justified: it was a fiercely contested match, with midfield becoming a battlefield and both goalkeepers having little to do. General Pueyrredón dropped two points at home against an opponent that set up well; Veteranos salvaged a result that could have gone their way had they been more precise. The table barely changes as a result.
