Sociedad Villa Lugano1 - 2corcho junior

El Porvenir de Montserrat left Villa Lugano with the three points in the bag, in a match where both teams played with the same tactical setup but where the visitors made the most of their chances. The victory was deserved, though tight: 2-1 for the men from Montserrat on matchday 13 of Primera I in the GBA Sur, where there were no gifts in space or glaring errors, just two well-matched teams who sized each other up carefully.

Enzo Borghi opened the scoring for Villa Lugano with a goal that owed something to his own merit: the striker from Mendoza, 24 years old and with a rating of 7.2, found the net in a match where he was one of the most active men in the home attack. But Ramón Varese, El Porvenir's centre-back who at 29 remains a driving force in defence and attack, replied with a goal and an assist as well, showing why his 7.7 rating puts him among the side's standout performers. Mateo Barrios, the Brazilian striker of just 21 years old but with a rating of 7.2, wrapped up the scoring with the visitors' second goal. Leonel Bastianelli, a Villa Lugano midfielder with a good all-round work rate on the pitch, supplied an assist but it was not enough to keep his side level. Adolfo Massa, in Montserrat's goal, was solid when needed, backing up a defence that gave him no major surprises.

The defeat leaves Villa Lugano with the feeling that they had chances they failed to convert, while El Porvenir go away happy to have controlled the match without too much trouble. The home side will have to review how to handle better those moments when the opponent did not leave unscathed, but neither was it a disaster. Montserrat, by contrast, take home an away win that is worth its weight in gold in any competition.
