AA Villa Urquiza Reserva3 - 2Atlético Belgrano R FC

Villa Urquiza made the most of home advantage to claim a thriller packed with goals against Belgrano on matchday six of Primera I. The final 3-2 sums it up nicely: an open contest, with not too many defensive concessions, where both sides came with intent but only one had the composure at the key moments. The home side edged it in a tight result that could have ended differently had Belgrano been more accurate in the final third.

The midfield was the area where plenty was decided. Nahuel Tagle, a 23-year-old holding midfielder with a real presence on the pitch, scored one of Villa Urquiza’s goals and worked as the link between defence and attack. Tomi Cazón, the 17-year-old left-back who came through the club’s academy, also found the net and showed some interesting attacking intent, though defensive consistency is still an issue for him. For the visitors, León Villagra provided an assist from the attacking midfield role and showed he can keep things simple, something of value on a pitch like Villa Urquiza’s. Gino Castellanos scored one from the right with his trademark good delivery, while Marcos Sacchetti, the 19-year-old striker, also netted but it was not enough.

Villa Urquiza could have been in trouble in the closing minutes if Belgrano had taken their chances better, but the home side had that extra something these tight matches demand. Miguel Weinberg on the right and Cayetano Vallejo on the left had their moments; the left winger, at 37 years old, remains a problem for opponents who do not mark him properly. Manuel Saposnik, the 29-year-old Brazilian striker, did not have a sparkling night but did his job. Belgrano were left frustrated at not taking at least a point away from home against a rival that was not superior, only more clinical.
