Reservas Floresta had no need to invent anything to tame Real Mataderos on the opening matchday of Primera L. With two goals and no major difficulties, the home side imposed a balanced tempo from the very first minute, taking advantage of the visitors’ defensive frailty. Both squads lined up in a 4-4-2 formation and with a balanced mentality, but the difference lay in efficiency: while Floresta converted their chances, Mataderos faded out of the game without creating any real danger.
Enrique Puebla commanded the right flank with the solidity of a man who has been at this for years; at 29, the Argentine defender had a clean match, without any scares. In midfield, Rodolfo Zito, the 34-year-old veteran, moved with the ease of someone who knows every corner of the pitch, organising the play and providing the balance that held Floresta together. Benjamín Arrillaga, the 27-year-old striker, was the spearhead: he took advantage of the spaces left by the visitors’ defence and finished clinically. Federico Aramberri put in a good shift on the right wing before picking up a yellow card at the end. Real Mataderos tried to compete with figures such as Omar Munarriz, a central midfielder of 35 who, despite his age, kept things in order in midfield, but his teammates did not back him up. Dylan Pessina and Santiago Zardini, both booked, failed to find a way to trouble Felipe Loiacono, Floresta’s goalkeeper, who had little to do.
The comfortable win suits the home side well as they look to push on in the table. Mataderos, by contrast, will have to analyse why a balanced approach turned into an unfortunate display. At this stage of the competition, Argentine reserves do not forgive a lack of concentration.
